The property consists of several centuaries-old buildings wich originally formed a farmhouse complex. We, the owners, live year-round in our home adjacent to your cottage. We will welcome you and give you any help/advice/suggestions you may desire, but, otherwise, we will remain unobstrusive. You will be the only guests on the property in your charming, recently-restored stone cottage, l’Ourdissoir (“the warping machine”) named by the weavers who once used as their atelier.
Cradled in a beautifull valley, the 2.5 acre property is surrounded by cultivated lavender fields and a hillside covered wild native vegetation ( wild lavender, thyme and savory) and crisscrossed by dry stone walls. We enjoy view on the montagne de Lure to the east of the village of l’Hospitalet to the south. The park-like setting includes many species of mature trees where you will enjoy strolling and birdwathing. You can easily walk to the local café-bistrot in the nearest village, Saumane.
Opportunities for seculed outdoor living abound and your home has three points of access to the outdoors. At l’Ourdissoir you will enjoy your own private plunge pool (2.3 X 3.4 m) set in local stone and many spaces both sunny and shady for reading/writing/painting, al fresco dining, relaxing. Tearing yourself away from Le Champ de l’Amant for sightseeing may not be easy.
